I ordered the Light Oak shelf with nickel hooks. It is gorgeous!!! My kids were leaving their coats and backpacks in a big messy heap in the entryway to my house, so I wanted to get everything up off the floor. I wanted it to be hard for anybody to hurt themself by crashing into the hooks, so I looked for hooks with a shelf attached -- and this is perfect! I am not very handy, but I hung it up myself. The only tiny minus is that it came with little wooden discs to cover up the screws, but my discs didn't fit into the screw-holes -- but I don't really care, the screws look fine. I also bought some shelves to go under this one, too, and -- the best part of all -- my kids' stuff is now up off the floor -- their mess is fixed! Cool!Pros: * Looks great! * Made of real, solid wood. * Holds coats and other items. * I was able to install it myself even though I'm not especially handy. * Clever easy-to-open glue-free packaging. * Now my kids' stuff is mostly up off the floor.Cons: * Little wooden screw-covers didn't fit.Misc:* I have no connection to the company that makes this. I am a satisfied customer who paid full price for the shelf.SHORT VERSION: This is an excellent product supplied with THE WORST wall hangers I have ever used!PROS: Solid Oak. No particle board, fillers or vinyl covering. Quality craftsmanship. Tight joints. Solid brass hangers. Flawless finish. Excellent, custom designed shipping box. Very secure and protective during shipping. SERIOUSLY!!!CONS: Those worthless hangers! Those are the metal hangers you poke through a hole in the drywall. You tighten the screw and the four thin metal arms are supposed to fold out and in half as the hanger compresses. Unfortunately, they don't compress before the grommet strips. The hanger pulls right back out of the wall. This happened with all three hangers.Don't waste your time with the included hangers. Go to the hardware store and purchase 3 quality hangers before this unit even arrives. I bought 3 of the metal self-tapping, screw-in hangers (58 cents each at my local ACE). Quick. Fast. Secure. The unit comes with 3 matching finished oak plugs to fill in and hide the screw holes. Like I said above...this is a quality item.I would definitely purchase this again, and recommend it completely (except for those worthless hangers). Lousy hangers cost seller one star (4 instead of 5).I bought this mallet to conveniently store my coffee storage canisters, along with extra pots and frying pans I hang from the coat hooks. A piece of decorative wood paneling can be cut, to bridge the gap between the wood slats. I used 3/16 x 3 inch molly anchors from the hardware store for heaven duty anchoring. Overall this is a very handsome addition to the kitchen. I bought this in mohagany shade; it’s both very good quality workmanship, and this product is good looking.Shipping from Amazon was fast, and I’m very happy with my mallet, I even bought two!I highly recommend this productI bought the Mahogany finish and it came out a lot more "red" than I pictured it. Its more like a cherry mahogany. Plus the mounting hardware it comes with a pretty cheap. I had 2 of the wall hangers strip out while trying to secure them into the wall one of which causing a massive hole. I just used my own hardware and had no other problems mounting it. Once mounted its pretty sturdy and can hold a bunch of heavy coats. Also, the top shelf is not a full board which isn't really pictured but I expected that having read other reviews. The shelf doesn't really fit my baseball caps so I either have to turn them sideways on the shelf or hang them on the hooks.Packed extremely well, and built solid. Its also solid wood!!Looked all over, even at the big box stores, and could not find exactly what I wanted, and this matched the bill.I only replaced one thing which was the mounting brackets that came with the unit. In trying to use them they ended up stripping the screws, or the holder broke while trying to place the, I would recommend have 3 better quality drywall mounting brackets and use those versus the ones you received.I would rate this 5 stars if the hardware to hang the unit fit. The screws were simply too short. However, a trip to the hardware store and now it hangs perfectly. The slats at the top are fine as long as you know that's what to expect. The wood looks like a dark cherry color. We hang all our coats and my purse and the shelf is solid. This is an elegant and sturdy coat rack. My only complaint is that the screws that came with it were very cheap. One of them broke. Also, be aware that the hollow wall anchors are not made for thick sheet rock. The sheet rock in my home is 1/2". I had to purchase alternative anchors for the screws that needed to be installed in the sheet rock.Overall it is as advertised BUT WE WERE expecting the top shelf to be a solid piece of wood and not wooden slats that do not support some items. Its good enough but the holes needed to be reamed deeper to get the screw to connect with the mounting hard wear. Also, the top wood isn't flush but no one will see that part anyway.
